"Blue explores the color as a symbol of innocence, spirituality, purity, and quiet responsibility, the hue of the Virgin Mary's robe."

Set in the years before WWI, when rural households depended on every set of hands regardless of age, the series follows a child who is not yet permitted to simply be a child. Poverty was the shared condition of the time, and the real burden was childhood turned into duty, a small body treated as an instrument of the household, made to carry the family's failures and patterns before ever choosing its own path.

This part of the story portrays a child too young to judge what truly helps and what does not, showing that even the effort and choices of a child who only wishes to please a parent do not always turn out well. In this search for love, comfort comes from the Virgin Mary, who is the Mother of all children, the youngest and the oldest alike. Hope does not come easily, but it is never absent either, and the imagination we carry, the same one children create so freely, holds the power to break through the barriers of our own beliefs. In this series, the Virgin Mary stands as hope and as a symbol of love for us all.
